GERVONTA DAVIS FACES FRESH LAWSUIT CONTROVERSY AHEAD OF JAKE PAUL FIGHT

Gervonta Davis is back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons with a new lawsuit looming.

The WBA lightweight champion has been hit with a new civil lawsuit just two weeks before his scheduled fight against Jake Paul.

Court records from Miami-Dade County show the filing was made on October 30 by Davis’s ex-girlfriend, identified as Rosell.

She accuses the 30-year-old of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The alleged incident reportedly took place on October 27 at Tootsie Cabaret, a Miami nightclub where Rosell works as a VIP cocktail waitress.

The lawsuit claims Davis “choked, grabbed, pulled, and pushed” her, adding that similar incidents occurred on at least four previous occasions.

Rosell’s attorney, Richard C. Wolfe, said his client is receiving therapy for PTSD, anxiety, and fear after years of alleged abuse.

The suit cites past threats to her life and references Davis’s previous run-ins with the law.

Jake Paul fight in doubt

Davis will face Paul in Miami on November 14 in an exhibition streaming live on Netflix.

Promoters have billed the bout as a crossover showcase, matching one of boxing’s most explosive punchers with one of its most marketable disruptors.

While the Gervonta Davis lawsuit does not currently prevent the fight from taking place, it has cast a shadow over the build-up.

Promoters and licensing bodies are monitoring developments closely, though civil cases of this kind rarely lead to immediate suspensions.

Trainer Calvin Ford dismissed the claims as “nonsense,” insisting his fighter is not in custody and remains focused on training.

“He’s doing great,” Ford told USA Today. “Everything’s good. That’s why we’re trying to find out what’s going on.”

Observers have drawn comparisons to similar situations involving fighters such as Conor McGregor, who faced legal disputes while continuing to compete.

Industry insiders expect preparations for the Paul fight to continue unless a criminal investigation follows.

A familiar pattern for Tank Davis

This is not Davis’s first legal entanglement. He has previously faced charges related to assault and domestic violence, including arrests in 2020, 2022, and earlier this year.

The latest allegations arrive as Davis prepares for what he has hinted will be his final fight before retirement.

“It’s over with after this year,” he said earlier in 2025, calling the Paul bout a “final chapter” in his career.
