GERVONTA DAVIS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE LATEST: HUGE UPDATE FROM ATTORNEY’S OFFICE

A domestic violence case against superstar boxer Gervonta Davis has been dropped, according to latest reports.

The three-weight world champion was accused of hitting his ex girlfriend last June, which led the boxer to being arrested and jailed a month later.

The alleged victim, who is the mother of Davis’ two children, reportedly told police officers that the incident occured after a verbal argument.

A $10,000 bond saw Davis released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with arraignment set for August 12.

However, the case has since been dropped, with the alleged victim declining to prosecute.

Official statement confirms case status

An official statement released by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office confirmed the status of the case.

It said: “This case was dropped as the victim is declining to prosecute, per her victim attorney, Lindsey Chase, Esq. and her sentiments were directly confirmed by the Assistant State Attorney handling the prosecution.

“The witness to the incident, who is the victim’s mother, also failed to cooperate and failed [to appear] after being subpoenaed for a prefile conference on Thursday, August 7. Follow up attempts to contact the witness via phone were unsuccessful.

“The incident itself was not observed by the police officer who had been called to the scene, eliminating him as a possible witness to what had transpired.”

Davis faced previous troubles with the law

This is not the first time that Davis has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Back in 2020, the boxer was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Baltimore which ended up injuring four people.

According to latest reports, Davis remains on probation for the incident.

The WBA lightweight champion last boxed in March against Lemont Roach – a fight which ended in a controversial majority draw.

There has been a lot of talk about a potential rematch between the two men, though the second fight was never officially announced.

Davis still boasts an impressive unbeaten 30-0-1 record, with the southpaw still being one of the biggest names in the sport.
