Dillon Danis has revealed he felt “suicidal” following his defeat to Logan Paul back in October 2023.
The controversial mixed martial artist failed to offer any resistance when boxing the social media star and WWE wrestler at Misfits.
Paul dominated every round, but his victory came by way of disqualification after Danis began to attempt takedowns and other unorthodox methods.
The 31-year-old will return to Misfits at the end of August when he battles Warren Spencer, though in the build-up to the fight, Danis has openly spoken out about his experience fighting Paul.
The always controversial fighter admitted the defeat left him in a serious low.
“I don’t know man, it’s been tough for me,” he told Wade Plemons in a recent interview.
“Since that day, I’ve been like suicidal. Because I know I can beat him, and I know I can do better than that. I’m very competitive, so like, he sucks. I know he sucks.”
UFC star warned Dillon Danis about Logan Paul
The high level of animosity ahead of the 2023 fight was due to a series of tweets which Danis directed towards Paul’s fiancée, Nina Agdal. Since then, Agdal has filed a lawsuit against the MMA fighter – a case which is still ongoing.
Nevertheless, Paul appeared to take his frustrations out on Danis during the fight, with the WWE superstar dominating proceedings from start to finish.
Danis revealed he was warned about Paul by UFC star Paulo Costa, saying: “I knew he was half decent though because I went to dinner with Costa—and we were supposed to fight the first time… and then he got hurt by Roman Reigns.
“It was going to be me and him, and KSI and Tyron Woodley in Atlanta. [Costa told me at dinner], and he was like, ‘I just want to let you know I sparred him for real, and I had a tough time with him. Like, I couldn’t do anything to him.’
“I was like, ‘Are you being serious?’ And he was like, ‘Dead serious.’ He might be mad at me for saying this.
“And then I was hearing some stories about it, but I know he was decent, but I could’ve beat him. I know I could’ve beat him, and that’s the thing that drives me crazy to this day.
“It definitely f*****g haunts me, and we were supposed to have that MMA fight. Like, he shook my hand, but he’s scared of it. I wish he did. We would make so much money.”
Dillon Danis returns to action
Danis has made a name for himself by being provocative on social media, but later this month he will be hoping to make headlines for his boxing abilities as he prepares to battle Spencer.
The fellow influencer boxer has been involved in four bouts throughout his short career, including one professional outing against Muganzi Hakim back in April – one which he won with a first-round knockout.
The fight will be part of a stacked card in Manchester which will be headlined by a meeting of two former UFC giants – Darren Till and Luke Rockhold.
UFC legend Tony Ferguson will also make his Misfits boxing debut when he takes on social media sensation Salt Papi.
The event is set for the 30th of August and will be held at the AO Arena.
