SCOTT ALLEN

I’m a journalist and betting writer working across a wide range of sports including MMA, NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, soccer, cricket, golf, and horse racing. With such a wide brief every day is different, from news and feature writing to betting analysis and editing. As a teenager, I started my writing career in football fanzines, when they were a big deal. Then I spent the next 25 years working my way around the sports media industry in various roles from reporting and editing to project management and marketing. Before washing up on the shores of Planet Sport in 2020. I’m also a published children’s author with two fiction and two non-fiction books available to buy in all good bookshops, and there’s another two in the pipeline. As I’m a sucker for punishment I spend my days off visiting primary schools talking and workshopping with children about writing, books and generally mucking about for a few hours. I grew up in the horse racing town of Epsom, just south of London. But a career in the saddle never called. Being 6ft3in at 12 didn’t help. So I took a different path and have a BA (Hons) in Media Production and an NVQ Level IV in journalism. I left a job as a City journalist in London to move to Leeds and follow my passion for sport, while keeping a close eye on those I left behind down south - West Ham, Sutton Utd and Surrey CC.
